Fleet owners and owner operators will soon be able to power their Bergstrom NITE no-idle systems using the power of the sun. That's because Bergstrom Inc., a global leader in the design and supply of climate control systems to the commercial vehicle industry, has entered into a strategic partnership with eNow, a clean tech company that designs, develops and manufactures solar-based auxiliary power systems.

As part of the agreement, both companies will market their complimentary products – which are both CARB approved – to the no-idle industry in North America and Europe.

"With unstable fuel prices, increasing idling restrictions and the growing concern about greenhouse gas emissions, the eNow solar system will provide a valuable solution for our customers," said Jack Shaffer, president and CEO of Bergstrom. "eNow's solar energy solutions are a great complement to our battery-powered NITE units."

As a battery-powered, no-idling system, the NITE system is able to generate high BTU cooling capacity without sending damaging emissions into the environment. This helps drivers reduce emissions and comply with anti-idling laws. It also helps save money on fuel.

The eNow solar-based auxiliary power systems are specifically designed for the transportation industry, including medium and heavy duty trucks, commercial buses, school buses and military vehicles.

The system generates power using the company's proprietary solar system, which is then stored in the on-board battery system and distributed to various truck/trailer functions – such as Bergstrom battery-powered NITE no-idle system – when needed. Solar charging systems range from 30 watts, for keeping batteries charged, to 6,400 watt systems for refrigeration applications.

"We are very excited about this joint marketing agreement with Bergstrom," said Jeffrey Flath, president and CEO of eNow. "There is huge potential for solar power generation within the transportation industry – both environmentally and financially. The Bergstrom NITE system is a perfect application for this type of solar-based auxiliary power system."
