Techno Tools refrigerant leak detection system certified to comply with ASHRAE standard

May 23, 2013
Circuit certified at a leak rate of less than one gram per year using R-1234yf.

Techno Tools Corp., a U.S. manufacturer of hand held electronic diagnostic and test instrumentation, has announced that its D440A solid electrolyte semiconductor circuit and sensor refrigerant leak detection system was certified by an accredited independent test laboratory to comply with the new American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Halocarbon Refrigerant Leak Detector Standard 173-2012 on April 25, 2013. The circuit was certified at a leak rate of less than one gram per year using R-1234yf, a commercially available refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 150.

The standard was established by ASHRAE to provide a method of testing and qualifying the performance of portable leak detectors designed for the detection of all HCFC, HFC, HFO, CFC, and PFC halogenated refrigerant gasses.

The D440A leak detection system and circuit is also certified to comply with SAE refrigerant leak detector Standards J2913 (R-1234yf), J2791 (R-134a), and the new European Standard EN 14624:2012 (R-134a). The D440A circuit is certified to comply with all of the refrigerant leak detector Standards in the world.
