Volvo Trucks in North America announced it has entered into memorandums of agreement (MOA) with both Telogis and Trimble to develop future fleet management services. Both companies are industry leading providers of onboard fleet management and location intelligence services. As the first OEM to enter a collaborative business relationship with the industry's leading fleet management service providers, Volvo will offer customers increased flexibility as they optimize the performance of their fleets using the Telogis platform and Trimble, owner of PeopleNet, range of applications.

"Our agreements with Telogis and Trimble will enable us to continue to expand our connected vehicle services offerings," said David Pardue, Volvo Trucks vice president of aftermarket business development. "Volvo was the first OEM to offer a telematics solution to the market, and we are now the first to work with the industry's leading fleet management solutions providers. These agreements extend our telematics capabilities so that customers have the option to select a fleet management service that leverages Volvo's integrated connected vehicle platform."

The agreements with Telogis and Trimble strengthen Volvo's Connected Vehicle Services category of Volvo Trucks Support Services. As a one-stop shop for service, parts and operations information, Volvo Trucks Support Services focuses on delivery of best-in-class fleet management solutions.

Fleet management services offer fleet managers critical information such as location, fuel economy and vehicle and driver performance data for all trucks in a fleet. This information can be utilized by the fleets to control costs, increase safety, improve customer service and enhance operations.

"The combination of Volvo's Remote Diagnostics and the Telogis platform will deliver increased uptime, safety and operational efficiencies for Volvo customers," said Jason Koch, co-founder and president, Telogis Fleet. "Through this collaboration, we are bringing together two leading brands in our respective spaces with the goal of having a profound effect on the industry."

As a part of Volvo Trucks' evolving strategy focused on uptime, connected vehicle services now come standard on all Volvo-powered trucks with the launch of Remote Diagnostics. Volvo was the first North American truck manufacturer to offer a telematics solution beginning in 2002. The agreements with Telogis and Trimble will ensure that Volvo continues to build on its leading postion in connected vehicle and fleet management services.

"A leader in the industry, Volvo is known for centering every action around quality, safety and environmental care," said PeopleNet President Brian McLaughlin. "We're proud to collaborate with a like-minded company that wants to continue its proven commitment to telematics by working with an experienced leader in integrated end-to-end system design and support for sharing data and applications across different hardware platforms. The configurability of the PeopleNet system will enable a deeper integration between their vehicles and our mobile fleet management applications."

Volvo Trucks North America's operations and products are guided by the company's three core values: Quality, Safety and Environmental Care. The Volvo VNM, VNL, VHD and VAH trucks are assembled in the United States at the New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia, while Volvo engines for North America are assembled in Hagerstown, Maryland. Both plants are certified to ISO14001 environmental and ISO9001 quality standards.
