New Fiesta has bold new exterior, ergonomoic interior and 'International Engine of the Year.'

Ford Motor Co.  this week pulls back the covers on the new Fiesta in North America at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The U.S. reveal of Fiesta follows its global debut at the Paris Motor Show in September; South American debut at the São Paulo International Auto Show, Brazil; and last week, its China debut at Auto Guangzhou.

The stylish new Fiesta delivers a bold new exterior; an interior optimised for ergonomics; and will become the first vehicle in North America to be equipped with the “International Engine of the Year” – Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that is expected to be certified as the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid car in the U.S.

“Customers want cars that are expressive and fun while offering class-leading fuel economy,” said Mark Fields, Ford president of The Americas. “Fiesta delivers all the excitement drivers are looking for in a car we believe will raise the bar even higher for small cars in North America.

“Our goal with this Fiesta was to take a car that was already a leader in fuel efficiency, performance, connectivity and personality, and make it even better,” Fields added.

Ford has sold more than 15 million Fiestas worldwide since production started in 1976, and its combination of exciting driving dynamics and strong fuel economy has proved popular with small-car drivers in markets worldwide including North America, where it first went on sale in 2010.

More than 1.1 million Fiestas have been purchased globally since the start of 2011. Parked bumper-to-bumper, these alone would stretch from L.A to New York or across the width of Australia.

New Fiesta in Europe is available to order now after production began in Cologne, Germany, earlier this month. It introduces to Europe Ford MyKey– industry-first technology that allows parents to encourage safer driving and limit their teenager’s exposure to risk at the wheel.

New Fiesta also offers in-car connectivity system Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, that directly connects vehicle occupants to local emergency services operators after an accident; and Active City Stop, that helps drivers avoid low speed collisions.
