First Transit puts veterans back to work
First Transit and Army PaYs helps retired and returning soldiers find jobs.
In February 2012, Cincinnati-based First Transit, Inc. began a partnership with the United States Army's Partnership for Youth Success (PaYs) program. The PaYS program is a nationwide Army initiative with hundreds of corporate partners, offering potential jobs to returning or retiring soldiers. Through this relationship, thousands of professionally trained soldiers have the opportunity to become employees of First Transit and First Services, the leading private provider of transit management and contracting services.
"It is an honor for First Transit to partner with the military and work together to assist the nation's veterans," said Brad Thomas, president, First Transit and First Services. "I admire the work ethic and dedication soldiers exhibit through their military service and am grateful for the more than 900 veterans we employ throughout North America. This Veterans Day we recognize more than the job our employees do for First Transit daily, we recognize the sacrifice so many have taken to provide us with the freedoms and liberties we are privileged to enjoy."
Through the program, veterans are interviewed and placed in a number of transit and vehicle maintenance positions throughout North America.
