Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has published a new educational fact sheet on hybrid electric power systems for commercial trucks with a wealth of information to help fleets determine whether the technology is the correct platform for their operation. The one-page, two-sided color document (No. HYWP0001) is available free of charge at www.roadranger.com, the online destination for all sales and service support for Eaton’s Truck business in North America.
“More and more of our potential hybrid customers had been asking us for a good resource to best determine the appropriateness of a hybrid system for their fleet,” said Kevin Snow, Eaton chief engineer, hybrid applications and integration. “With fuel costs once again soaring, the timing of the document’s release should be especially well-received. Our Roadranger field service representatives, of course, remain another valuable source for information.”
Titled “Is hybrid power right for your vehicle, your fleet?”, the document covers appropriate applications, jobsite operation time, stop densities, appropriate vehicle speeds, proper driving techniques, warranty information and more. It also lists key specification information for Eaton hybrid systems.
The document also spells out the multitude of Eaton resources available for specifications and service assistance, determining ROI, calculating fuel consumption, calculating weight and grade requirements, determining engine approvals, accessing website assistance, and on-site and after-the-sales support provided by more than 200 Roadranger representatives in North America.
Eaton has been a worldwide pioneer of hybrid development in the commercial truck industry, with customers of its hybrid systems having collectively accumulated more than 200 million miles of service, reducing fuel consumption by 8 million gallons of diesel fuel and harmful emissions by 80,000 metric tons. More than 5,500 of Eaton’s hybrid systems are in use today on city buses, school buses, package delivery trucks, beverage delivery trucks, refrigerated delivery trucks, refuse and recycling trucks, utility vehicles and other commercial applications.
