Ron Corse, an automotive instructor at Ventura High School, Ventura, Calif., found a seminar on start/stop technology very informative during the recent Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. Interviewed by Elliot Maras, editor of Professional Tool & Equipment News, Corse said he learned that start/stop technology is not just for hybrid vehicles and presents a business opportunity for the automotive aftermarket. Start/stop technology conserves energy by shutting off the engine when the vehicle is at rest, and automatically re-starting it when the driver pushes the gas pedal to go forward.
