Microban antimicrobial protection to become exclusive standard in Great Dane reefer liners

Great Dane and Microban International formed a new partnership that provides Microban antimicrobial product protection exclusively in Great Dane's Everest reefers. This will be standard in Great Dane's PunctureGuard and ThermoGuard reefer liners.

The patented Microban technology is built into the Everest’s liners during the manufacturing process, resulting in antimicrobial protection for the life of the liner, measured using established international laboratory protocols. The technology does not wash off or wear away and helps provide ongoing protection against the growth of bacteria that can cause stains, odors and product degradation.

The benefits of Microban antimicrobial product protection according to the company include improved visible and invisible cleanliness, reduced odors and, ultimately, extended product life for Great Dane customers.

The addition of Microban antimicrobial technology is part of Great Dane’s overall effort to give its customers innovations and technological solutions. Everest trailers with Microban product protection and other innovations debuted at the recent American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition in Nashville, Tennessee. At the show, Great Dane also introduced a new smart trailer telematics concept, an improved rear impact guard, and other product enhancements.

“Our customers have come to expect that Great Dane offers the most technologically advanced products on the market,” said Brandie Fuller, Vice President of Marketing at Great Dane. “The partnership with Microban, in addition to other Great Dane advances, provides our customers with products that will better prepare them to meet the more stringent standards of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).”

According to Kevin Parrish, Senior Vice President at Microban International, “The inclusion of Microban antimicrobial technology in Great Dane liners is an ideal application that will ultimately lead to the development of cleaner food storage and transport equipment. We are excited to launch this partnership with Great Dane, a recognized leader in the trucking industry.”

Great Dane liners featuring Microban protection will be available on new orders for the company’s reefers later this year.  For more information, visit www.greatdanetrailers.com  or www.microban.com.
