GM recalling 3,200 natural gas vans that could catch fire

The recall covers 3,196 Model Year 2011-14 Chevrolet Express CNG and GMC Savana CNG vehicles in the U.S. and 13 in Canada

General Motors Co. will recall approximately 3,200 vans powered with compressed natural gas.

According to a Sept. 18 article in The Detroit News, the recall covers 3,196 Model Year 2011-14 Chevrolet Express CNG and GMC Savana CNG vehicles in the U.S. and 13 in Canada because because they could leak CNG and catch fire.

Quoted in the article, GM spokesman Alan Adler stated that " GM is not aware of any fires, crashes or injuries as a result of this issue."

Adler also said affected customers will be notified via letter.
