Chicago-area Technical Committee Meeting to feature sessions on smoke machines, induction, DEF education and more

Aug. 11, 2014
The AMRA / Motor Assurance Program Technicial Committee Meeting is set for September 10-11.

AMRA / MAP invites automotive professionals to its Fall 2014 Technical Committee Meeting at the Holiday Inn Rolling Meadows, 3405 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows, Ill. 60008 (Chicago-area suburb).

The main purpose of this Technical Committee Meeting is to provide members with technical information affecting the automotive maintenance and repair market today -- and in the near future.

Smoke machines and leak detection

If your shop performs driveability and and/or emissions repairs, you’ll want to attend this MAP Technical Committee meeting and learn how generating smoke for leak detection is essential when diagnosing everything from random engine misfires to catalytic converter efficiency issues. Attendees learn how smoke machines are an essential tool for properly diagnosing and repairing systems and components.

Induction and turbocharger/supercharger technologies

Today’s engines are incorporating turbocharger and supercharger technologies to help meet stringent governmental CAFE standards and consumers’ power and efficiency desires. Shops are seeing downsized (as small as 3-cyl.) engines with these devices. Many technicians are new to this what’s-old-is-new-again technology and will benefit from CARQUEST Technical Institute’s presentation on turbocharger and supercharger operation, diagnosis and repair.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) education

Two presenters – Joe Macfarlan from Colonial Chemical Company and Jeffrey Harmening from the American Petroleum Institute -- will be educating MAP Technical Committee members about Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF); and why shops are now adding DEF to their inventory to accommodate the maintenance requirements for new light-duty diesel passenger vehicles.

These educational and informative presentations are only part of the robust agenda for the Fall 2014 MAP Technical Committee meeting. A copy of the full meeting agenda and meeting registration form is available in the Upcoming Events section at www.amra.org.
