In this May Tool Q&A column, get answers to commonly asked questions on the tire pressure monitoring system of a vehicle.

TPMS has been mandated by the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation (TREAD) Act since 2007 and has actually been in existence since the 1980s. Its purpose is just what its name implies.

This May Tool Q&A column answers the following questions:

  • What are the biggest issues a technician may experience with TPMS systems?
  • What would I need to be service ready for TPMS?
