Indiana city fleet department recognized

Fort Wayne's Fleet Department has placed third in a list of 100 best fleets in North America.

April 26--Fort Wayne's Fleet Department has placed third in a list of 100 best fleets in North America by the "100 Best Fleets" organization, which recognizes efficiency, cost-savings procedures, continuous improvements, alternative fuel use and innovation.

Fort Wayne's fleet department is responsible for maintenance and repair of the more than 1,800 city vehicles and equipment. In 2013, city fleet vehicles were on the job more than 34,000 hours and were driven more than 9.41 million miles. Last year, Fort Wayne was seventh on this list and, under the direction of Manager Larry Campbell, has been in the Top 100 list nine of the past 10 years.
