Craig Wineinger found the recent Matco Tools Tool Expo in San Antonio, Texas a highly invigorating experience, discovering new tools in several different tool categories. The Shreveport, La.-based distributor is in his third year selling tools and he has found the annual Tool Expo a “must attend” event.
High on his list of priorities this year were scan tools, and he wasn’t disappointed with his flag’s new offerings in this area. He was especially impressed with the maxGO, one of two new offerings that use the Android-based operating system. Like the Maximus 2.0 which was also introduced at the show, maxGO includes the ability to install any third-party app available for the Android operating system, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, and built-in rear and front cameras with still photo and video capability.
Wineiger sees the maxGO as a competitively-priced tool that provides new features in today’s scan tool market.
Matco Tools’ Infinium 1/2" 18V Impact Wrench is another tool that will help Wineinger be competitive in another growing tool category: cordless power tools. He believes this tool, which features 725 ft/lbs of breakaway torque for pneumatic performance, will save his tech customers money. “It’s amazing what they (techs) can get out of a battery powered product now,” Wineinger said.
Still another category that featured some exciting products is flashlights. Wineinger took an interest in the Stinger and Strion LED offerings at the Streamlight booth. “Everybody’s got to have a flashlight,” Wineinger said. “It’s something everybody needs working in a shop under the hood.”
He also found the non-ratcheting wrenches with 15-degreee offset with a 15-degree angle intriguing among the new Matco Tools hand tools. “That is a very interesting product,” Wineinger said.
Wineinger also got a lot of benefit from attending a seminar on selling toolboxes .
