Federal shutdown suspends NHTSA safety investigations

    According to the Department of Transportation's contingency plan, automotive defects investigations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would be suspended and incoming information on possible defects from manufacturers and consumers would not be reviewed, reported USA Today.
