Auto shop accident kills Independence, Mo. man

Occupational Safety & Health Administration investigates fatal accident.

Blue Springs, Mo. police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man killed when a four-post vehicle lift fell on him at an automotive shop.

They identified the victim as Gusteno A. Santamaria of Independence, Mo.

The lift fell while Santamaria and other employees were attempting to move it at Highline Auto, 609 S.W. Missouri 7, police said. Police were called about 11 a.m. Monday.

Investigators with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration also went to the scene. It could take up to six months for the agency to complete its review, said spokeswoman Rhonda Burke.
