Navistar announces new engine strategy
Includes use of its new emissions technology
Navistar International officials have revealed a new strategy for introducing a new engine platform, plus a plan to restore customers’ confidence in Navistar’s products, drive profitable growth and increase shareholder value after stalled regulatory approval of Navistar’s own exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) emissions technology.
Navistar said it will introduce a ProStar+ tractor with a Cummins 15-liter ISX engine this January, and will bring a 13-liter MaxxForce engine out in May, both with Navistar’s new selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, called ICT+ (In-Cylinder Technology Plus).
Until then, the company will continue to sell EGR-only MaxxForce 13 engines using emissions credits and paying an EPA non-compliance penalty for each one sold.
