Auto Data Direct offers compliance solutions for California auto dealers

While new California law is aimed at protecting consumers from purchasing less than desirable vehicles without full disclosure, pulling a vehicle history from the NMVTIS is a smart thing to do for all dealers

As of July 1, all California dealers who sell used cars are required to obtain a NMVTIS vehicle history report for every used car on their lot, and post a red warning label on the vehicle if a title brand or salvage history is found.

While the new California law is aimed at protecting consumers from purchasing less than desirable vehicles without full disclosure, pulling a vehicle history from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) is a smart thing to do for all dealers – not just those in California.

The NMVTIS database is a U.S. Department of Justice information system that contains automobile information from states DMVs, insurance carriers and the salvage industry. Auto Data Direct, Inc., (ADD) offers a variety of business solutions for California auto dealers, and dealers nationwide, to easily access NMVTIS vehicle history reports.

"ADD's unique web-based system has already helped thousands of dealers access NMVTIS reports, pulling records as individual businesses or through dealer management systems," said Jim Taylor, president.  "Our goal has been to provide efficient options for access to NMVTIS reports, meeting the new California consumer protection requirement and keeping compliance easy and affordable for the dealer community."

ADD has partnered with ten Dealer Management Software companies who offer a seamless way for dealers to access NMVTIS vehicle history reports through their existing business systems and processes.  "We've spent the last twelve years developing tools for the automotive industry that offer both compliance and efficiency.  Integration offers a unified solution for dealers to pull these low-cost federal reports," added Taylor.

In addition to easy access to NMVTIS vehicle history reports, ADD offers Spanish-English reports to better serve the bilingual dealer community.  Dealers benefit from a Pay-Per-Pull option allowing for individual reports to be retrieved one at a time, or Batch Processing which accepts multiple VINs for initial inventory reports or high volume users.

A unique service, ADD's StiQR is an innovative lead generation tool that uses QR code technology to deliver NMVTIS reports to a consumer's smart phone via a window sticker.  ADD StiQRs integrate NMVTIS histories, dealer marketing, vehicle information, photos, video, web and social media into a mobile friendly sales tool.
