New package available for Western Star 4900 set-back model

Western Star Truck Sales has introduced a new fuel efficiency (FE) package for its 4900 set-back truck model.

The new 4900FE combines fuel efficient components and packaging that increases operational performance with the ruggedness, dependability and traditional look and feel of a Western Star truck, according to Guy Lemieux, marketing segment manager, Western Star.

Featuring a 123-inch BBC, the 4900FE package includes an aerodynamic, high visibility hood; chrome wrap-around bumper; under hood air cleaners; and horizontal or back-of-sleeper exhaust. Additional fuel efficiency options are also available.

“The new 4900FE helps heavy haul and bulk operators gain aerodynamic benefits without sacrificing many of the suspension and powertrain ratings they need for their applications,” said Lemieux. “The new package not only enhances fuel efficiency, but provides options without being overly restrictive on component requirements.”

The 4900FE is available with the fuel efficient and proven Detroit Diesel DD13 and DD15 engines with BlueTec SCR technology, and features ratings up to 530 hp and 1,850 pound per feet of torque.

The new 4900FE is now available to order with a variety of Western Star sleeper and day cab configurations.
