Awards will recognize mobile innovation in the automotive and transport sector
The GSMA, which represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry, has launched its prestigious 16th Annual Global Mobile Awards program.
New categories have been added to recognize excellence, achievement and innovation in the broad and constantly evolving mobile ecosystem. Specifically, the GSMA will shine a spotlight on mobile innovation in the automotive and transport space for the first time.
"Vehicles embedded with mobile technology are becoming commonplace, allowing innovative applications such as easy fleet management, and positively impacting the global automotive and transport sector," said Ana Tavares Lattibeaudiere, Senior Director, Strategy and Technology, GSMA.
"We're excited that the Global Mobile Awards will honor and showcase ground-breaking mobile-based devices, services and applications that are reducing costs and driving key efficiencies for automotive companies and their customers globally."
Eligible entrants to this new category include telematics equipment manufacturers, telematics solution providers, automotive manufacturers, mobile network operators, and chipset and module manufacturers.
Full category, criteria and entry details are available here.
The deadline for entries is Monday, November 22.
Shortlists will be announced in January 2011 and the awards will be presented at the GSMA's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in February 2011.
