Michelin North America’s truck tire division was recently honored by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) with the 2010 Mike Russell “Good stuff” Trucking Image Award as the industry supplier winner. The award, which recognizes those that creatively generate positive awareness of the trucking industry, was presented to company officials at the annual ATA Management Conference and Exhibition in Phoenix.
“Michelin promotes a positive image and awareness of the trucking industry through a number of programs and partnerships, through our people, and most of all, through our innovative products that we supply to fleets and owner-operators,” said Ted Becker, vice president of marketing, Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “Michelin helps promote the trucking industry as essential, safe and sustainable, so it is an honor to be recognized with the ATA ‘Good stuff’ image award.”
“We are pleased to recognize Michelin North America,” said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. “Michelin's efforts in enhancing and promoting the positive image of the trucking industry are significant.”
Michelin efforts aim to enhance the reputation of the trucking industry center on its industry partnerships, leadership and product innovations. Examples include:
- ATA Share the Road program
- Official Tire of Yellowstone National Park Foundation
- North American Council for Freight Efficiency leadership
- Tire Retread and Information Bureau leadership
- ATA Technology and Maintenance Council leadership
- XZA3 Antisplash steer tire

The more than 100 award submissions were evaluated by an impartial panel of judges based on creativity, execution and reach/impact. The award is named in honor of the late Mike Russell, a trucking industry supporter and media official who helped develop the “Good stuff. Trucks Bring It.” campaign as vice president of Public Affairs for the American Trucking Associations.
