Continental Tire looks for feedback
The next generation of truck tires is being developed right on the floor of the Mid-America Truck Show (MATS) in Louisville, KY, this week, and show attendees are invited to be a part of the future.
For the first time, Continental Tire the Americas is inviting commercial truck operators and fleet managers to give their feedback for the next element of the product lineup - Continental’s first super single drive tire for highway use.
Following the successful launch in 2009 of the HTL1, Continental’s super single trailer tire, Continental research and development has announced that a super single drive tire is in the final stages of testing. The new product, dubbed “HDL2 Eco Plus” and expected to launch in late 2011, will replace dual fitments and provide superior fuel economy, exceptional traction and weight reduction.
“We are currently running two competing designs in a unique real-world test, utilizing our Untamed Innovation Tour mobile exhibit,” said Roger Stansbie, director of radial truck tire engineering for Continental - the Americas. “But we are offering a special chance to let our valued customers become a part of the most technically advanced tire engineering in the world.
For the first time, the two designs under consideration will be on display at MATS and we are inviting the public to provide their feedback.”
The two designs will be on display on the exhibit floor and on the Untamed Innovation Tour 2, which is an International LoneStar tractor and attached 53-foot exhibit showcasing Continental tires and technologies.
“While our ultimate choice will depend on the tire’s performance and durability, we welcome the commentary of the drivers and fleet managers who attend the Mid-America Truck Show and use these products every day,” said Clif Armstrong, director of marketing for commercial vehicle tires in the Americas.
