While Matco Tools distributor Dean Ulsh doesn’t have his own business Facebook page, he still uses the social media site to connect with other distributors.
Ulsh is part of an unofficial Facebook page which makes up exclusively Matco distributors, accessible by invite only. The Secret Squirrel, or S3, Facebook page is named after a Hanna-Barbera cartoon.
Ulsh is active in the group and he says the page is a great way to build camaraderie with other distributors, to joke around and to bounce ideas off of one another.
“I did get a lot of ideas just bouncing off of each other. Saying I’m having this contest. You can go and run with it and post the results later.”
He says he’s also used the site to get answers to tough questions on product information, like trying to find a part number on an older or discontinued product. He’ll post a photo on the site, and other group members can comment.
“A job like this, where you’re your own boss, where you’re on the road for hours a day. It gives you the connection with others like you.”
