In Focus: SK Hand Tool X-Frame ratcheting wrench

April 4, 2015
The SK Hand Tool X-Frame ratcheting wrench is designed to work in tight spaces.

The SK Hand Tool X-Frame ratcheting wrench offers 72 teeth and six dual-opposing pawls to enable the user to turn nuts in 2.1 degrees. The increased control allows technicians to work in tighter places. The distinctive X-frame comes from opposing triangular structures that help make the wrench stronger than the world standard, according to the company, by dispersing the stress on the handle across two beams. The power is maximized in one-third of the arc swing of any other ratcheting wrench on the market. The SK X-Frame will available in a full range of sizes.

Selling Points

• With an extremely low arc swing of 1.7 degrees, the SK X-Frame ratcheting wrench allows technicians to work in the tightest spaces with more power and precision.
• The new ratcheting wrench mechanism features a six-pawl design, allowing for a total of 216 positions.
• The SK X-Frame ratcheting mechanism is so strong, that the brand had to re-engineer the geometry of the handle to distribute force evenly, which is why the handle has an X-Frame design.

Features and benefits

The SK X-Frame ratcheting wrench gives technicians more power and precision in tight spaces, making a variety of jobs easier and causes less wear and tear on their bodies. More power and precision means jobs may be completed in less time and with less frustration.

Application

The SK X-Frame ratcheting wrench helps techs loosen and tighten bolts. The closed end of the ratcheting wrench is so strong, that techs can break free even the most stubborn bolts. And with SK’s SureGrip design on the open end of the ratcheting wrench, bolt heads won’t be stripped or rounded.

Origin

SK, and parent company Ideal Industries', engineers and manufacturing teams spent a great deal of time in garages across the U.S. with technicians to better understand their real life, every day challenges they face day in and day out. The SK X-Frame ratcheting wrench is a result of listening to their feedback and doing something about it.

Manufacturing specs

The product is made in the U.S.A., with American steel. Sample weight: The 10mm SK X-Frame ratcheting wrench weighs 0.146 lbs and can handle up to five times the ANSI spec for torque.

Storage and display

The SK X-Frame ratcheting wrench is offered in a 12-pc metric set (8mm-19mm) and a 7-pc fractional set (3/8" to 3/4"). Wrenches can also be purchased individually. The ratcheting wrench sets come with a unique tray, designed specifically to hold the wrench design.
