In Focus: GearWrench 84-Tooth Long Handle Ratchets

Sept. 3, 2013
These long-handle ratchets offer increased reach and greater leverage.

The handle on the GearWrench 84-Tooth Long Handle Ratchet is over 25 percent longer than standard ratchets, according to the company, offering increased reach and greater leverage. It has a low profile GearWrench teardrop head and a flush-mount on/off. The 84-tooth gear offers a 4.3-degree swing arc making it easy for technicians to start fasteners in the most confined spaces. Like many GearWrench ratchets, the new 84-Tooth Long Handle Ratchets exceed ASME torque performance specifications delivering the required strength. The longer handle provides technicians with increased reach and leverage. The 84-Tooth Long Handle Ratchets are available in either full-polish or cushion grip in the following drive sizes: 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2".

  • These 84-tooth long handle ratchets add to the existing GearWrench line, offering distributors a complete range of ratchets and allowing them to meet all the requirements of their customers.
  • These ratchets offer yet another way GearWrench products provide a solution to getting jobs done more quickly and efficiently.

Features and benefits

  • The 84-tooth gear offers a 4.3-degree swing arc, making it easy for technicians to start fasteners in the most confined spaces.
  • Like all GearWrench ratchets, the new 84-Tooth Long Handle Ratchets exceed ASME torque performance specifications delivering the required strength.
  • The longer handle gives technicians more reach to get to hard-to-access fasteners, and provides increased leverage.

Application

These products are perfect for any application where fasteners are difficult to reach. The long handles (over 25 percent longer than those on standard ratchets, according to the company) give automotive techs a way to reach fasteners and get the job done.

The 4.3-degree swing arc provided by the 84-tooth gearing allows the ratchet to turn fasteners in extremely cramped spaces where lower gear tooth-count ratchets might not.

Origin

The GearWrench product development team is in constant contact with mobile dealers, shop owners and automotive techs. They told us of the need for ratchets that could not only reach remote fasteners, but that would have a small enough swing arc to turn them typically cramped locations. We answered with the 84-Tooth Long Handle Ratchets, once again providing legendary GearWrench strength, speed and access.

Specs

GearWrench 84-Tooth Long Handle Ratchets are made from premium alloy.

Torque capacities vary, depending on the size of the ratchet being tested, but all exceed ASME torque performance specifications, delivering the required strength. Weight also varies depending on size.  The ratchet finish is full polish chrome.

Storage and display

Open stock ratchets come on a hang tab.  The two-piece set has a vacuum formed tray for storage and comes packed in a blister pack.
