2008: Awards, Tips and More

Welcome to a new year and some new wrinkles at your best source for new tool and equipment information.

Welcome to a new year and some new wrinkles at your best source for new tool and equipment information. I'm excited about what PTEN has in store for you this year, and that's right in line with the excitement I know you have for researching and buying new tools.

Probably the biggest thing you'll notice in this first issue of 2008 is the nominations for PTEN's new version of Innovation Awards. Starting on page 32, you will find 13 straight pages full of the most innovative tools and equipment introduced in the past year. More than 75 products will be voted on by PTEN's judges, a panel of techs and shop owners who are in the business of repairing cars.

When you see the Innovation Award winners next month in the March issue, you can be assured that a panel of your peers agrees that to keep your shop and skills on the front line, these will be the tools and equipment you need to have.

I also want to assure you that when you talk to us, we're listening. You've been asking for more information on diagnostic equipment. Starting this issue, following Dave Cappert's well-read "Diagnostic Pulse" column, we are adding products that relate to his topic.

One new item I'd like your help with is for a new tech tips section. We're going to begin tying shop tips from techs for techs in PTEN to the Special Feature products. If you have any tips you'd like to share with your fellow repairmen on tool storage ideas, a/c service, leak detection or preventive maintenance, these are topics that will crop up over the first part of the year.

Have a great year.
