In Focus: Murray Tools TriGage Combo Tool

March 1, 2012
Measure bolt diameter, thread pitch and bolt grade with the Murray Tools TriGage Combo Tool.

Murray Tools' TriGage Combo Tool measures bolt diameter, thread pitch and bolt grade to ensure that when users are replacing bolts or studs, they select the correct size. It also helps to select the correct size split thread repair die when repairing exterior threads.

Features and benefits

This tool quickly and accurately measures bolt/stud diameter, thread pitch, hardness/grade for replacement and indicates wrench size needed for replacement.  Made of stainless steel, the TriGage Combo Tool is durable, and compact compared to other gages that can do the same thing. Place this tool against bolts that are in use, or not as accessible, compared to larger plastic gages that require the user to have the bolt/stud in-hand and hold it up against the gage.

Tri Gages come in a vinyl storage pouch which zip locks shut, with an instruction sheet inside.

Origin

In some cases, it is not possible or practical to repair a damaged stud.  When a bolt or stud needs to be replaced, it is important to select the correct size to match the original.  The Tri Gage measures the bolt’s diameter, thread pitch and the hardness.  Users don’t need to test by trial and error, or grab possible replacement bolts from a bin and try one after another.  The tool indicates the wrench size needed to replace the bolt.  No need to go back and forth to the toolbox and get the right size wrench.

Specs

  • The Tri Gage tool is made in the U.S.A., of stainless steel for long life and avoiding corrosion.
