Ask the Expert: What's causing our air tools to slow down under load?

March 5, 2015
It's important to know the CFM requirement when you purchase an air tool.

Q: Our air tools seem to slow down under load. What could cause this?

A: Remember to always check the CFM requirement when you buy an air tool. Most of our SP Air Tools, like Ratchets SP-1764 & SP-1765 and Impact Wrenches SP-7146, SP-7146S and our SP-7825, SP-7825S, use 2-3 CFM, while the larger units are all less than 10 CFM. It is important to know what CFM the tool needs and to know what pipe size and compressor size you are working with to make sure you have the best air delivery possible.
