In Focus: Lang Tools 4-in-1 Brake Caliper Press

March 1, 2012
Works on twin and quad piston calipers, as well as single and twin piston floating calipers.

The Lang Tools 4-in-1 Brake Caliper Press (No. 279) works on twin and quad piston calipers, as well as single and twin piston floating calipers. The centrally located ratchet evenly spreads force in a parallel manner to prevent misalignment of pistons. Ratchet technology gives a full 360-degree swing, so that the spreader may be placed at any position. An extended reversing lever allows for easy change from spreading to retracting.

Features and benefits

This one tool works on most brake calipers found on today’s cars and trucks. The centrally located ratchet evenly spreads the force in a parallel manner to prevent misalignment of the pistons or scoring of the cylinders. The tool works on single and twin piston floating calipers, as well as twin and quad piston fixed calipers.

The built in ratchet technology has a full 360-degree swing allowing the spreader to be placed in any position. The extended reversing lever allows for easy change from spreading to retracting.

Origin

Most new vehicles today have disc brakes. With the advent of the twin and quad fixed caliper design, the existing brake caliper piston retractors would not work. Our engineers saw an opportunity, did some research, talked to the technicians, and came up with a tool that fits most vehicles found today. This allows the end user to do their job faster and efficiently.

Specs

The tool is made in Racine, Wisconsin. American-made, using carbon steel and manufactured to the Lang Tools professional quality standards.

Selling points

With the ratchet integrated into the spreader, no other tools are needed to retract the piston, saving the technician time.

Suggested retail price
